Chapter 9. War, children, it's just a shout away

[Assume that Derrick's skimmed all the entries he's missed and spotted Genius'. Yes, he has an opinion on what happened in the elevator; no, he's not going to be sharing here. He doesn't quite realize how much time has passed, either.]

Hey, man-twin, why are you bitching that I haven't made you dinner yet? I was only gone for a little bit to get coffee thanks to dreaming about tea with Bernard. Took a bit of a detour in the elevator along the way, but it hasn't been THAT long, has it? Where are you, in fact? I thought you'd be here pining away for me, fork and knife in hand, looking pathetic til you get your supper.

[A pause as he thumbs back through his journal again, finds the last entry he remembers reading, comes back to the current page.]

...how DID all these entries pop up in such a short time period, anyway?

Strikes crossed out after a momet, as if she's thought better of writing the words.

I'm glad he was safe, then.

Black? [Pause; that name is familiar. After a moment she remembers why.] I have spoken with him via the journals before, he seemed pleasant enough.

Interesting. Edensphere seems to manipulate time as easily as it manipulates reality.

Yes, they all seem normal until That might not have been "real", I'm told. But I wouldn't turn my back on him. Not that it would do any good

Or just our perceptions of it. I wish I could tell.

[Pause.] I'll keep that advice in mind.

It would be nice to know a great many things for sure.
