Chapter 12. She comes in colors everywhere

[Referencing Derrick's mysterious delivery as noted here. Just- pretend the first sentence is changing color as he writes.]

Hey, whoever gave me this nifty quill pen and the ink? You're a peach.

[There's a pause as Derrick grabs a normal pen and switches back to ordinary ink.]

Don't want to waste the stuff, though. And the note you left with it doesn't make much sense. WHAT "coming storm", and how is spiffy color-changing ink going to help me with it? Unless sometime's trying to pull my leg and make me THINK it's about something. Quite a conundrum.

Perhaps I can make a special edition of "Our Friend Nannerpus" with this ink...

A strange note and weird color changing ink? Sounds like a mystery to me!

Indeed it does, my friend. Have any ideas?

Don't worry, Arthur is on the case! Now, what exactly did this "note" say?

[pauses to think]

And who is this Nannerpus guy?

[identity profile] bloody-pens.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Arthur, eh? I'm Derrick, nice to meetcha.

Note just said "For the coming storm" in blocky black letters. No handwriting I could recognize, and for whatever reason the words "coming storm" keep jumping out at me. Hell if I know why.

Ah, you arrived here after Nannerpus. He was a banana puppet that gave people free pancakes. My first book was a story about him.

Derrick? I knew a bat named Derrick once.

[long pause as he loses his train of thought]

Right, well, it sounds as though there is some kind of storm coming, and the ink is to help you with it. Somehow.

Unless...

Is there anything special about this quill? Have you checked to see if it can fire lasers or control the weather? Speaking of weather, we should check the forecast to see how much time we have. And speaking of pancakes, I'm hungry.

[ooc: Arthur named a bunch of bats various names while he was fighting them in this (http://community.livejournal.com/edensphere_log/525703.html?thread=8310663#t8310663) log. Coincidentally, he named one of them Derrick. =p]

[identity profile] bloody-pens.livejournal.com 2010-02-24 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
... a bat?

No, the quill doesn't have any special properties as far as I know. Unless it only comes to life to protect me in my hour of need, and frankly, I don't feel like putting myself in mortal danger to test that theory.

... hey, maybe it IS controlling the weather, we just don't know it.

[identity profile] buchananneket.livejournal.com 2010-02-24 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Maybe we could

[ooc: Started writing the above after Derrick mentioned it protecting him in his hour of need and scratched out after he said he didn't want to put himself in mortal danger.]

Right, of course, we wouldn't want that.

Hmm, it's possible. Try holding the quill up and willing the weather to change. You might have to chant something. And you'll probably need to do it outside.

Yeah, I'll get right on that. After I've had a few martinits.
